I was prepared to be disappointed because of how much I love piñata, and how high my expectations were. But in all honestly, as it stands now, I love it even more. Gibbs has progressed as an artist in all areas, madlib is a legend doing legend shit, and the features are much better this go around (and less frequent). AOTY so far imo Freddie Gibbs' flow and lyrical content fits incredibly persistently into Madlib's production, which is also very well crafted. This is one of the most essential hip hop albums this decade because it's not everyday we get an album this consistent, complete, and full of creativity from two unmatched underground hip hop contemporaries.
